Jessica and Jonas had their amazing destination wedding in Rome back in 2017. They live in Switzerland, but Jessica has Italian origins, so some of the guests were also coming from other parts of Italy and it was the perfect occasion for a big family reunion!
They contacted me well in advance to plan their destination wedding in Rome and also came to visit with Jessica’s parents beforehand to check the church for the wedding ceremony and find the perfect location among the wedding reception venues suggested by Dolce Vita Weddings. We immediately clicked and it was like I had known them for ages! Jessica’s contagious smile was going to make the whole planning process so easy.
Their destination wedding in Rome started with a Catholic wedding ceremony which took place in a breathtaking church in the heart of the Eternal City. The string quartet started to play and escorted by a very emotional father, Jessica walked the long aisle to the altar where her prince charming Jonas was waiting for her. The ceremony was truly heartfelt with the celebrant performing it in Italian, German and English, so that everyone attending the wedding could understand.
When the wedding ceremony was over, the newlyweds stepped out of the church arm in arm to find a crowd of super happy guests greeting them with bubbles and heart-shaped balloons that were released into the air, making for some spectacular pictures.
A destination wedding in Rome must include some amazing shots around the city, so the couple proceeded to their wedding photoshoot around the main city landmarks in their vintage Rolls, while the guests made their way to the reception venue.
An old, romantic Castle on the seaside near Rome was awaiting for the wedding reception to start. The welcome cocktail of this amazing destination wedding in Rome took place in the garden overlooking the sea, with waiters serving delicious Italian canapés and Prosecco, while the string quartet was playing. A photobooth was set up in a corner of the garden with wigs and funny props, so guests could dress up, take pictures and then stuck them in an album to create an unforgettable present for the newlyweds.
The wedding dinner was held under the gazebo. The wedding decor and atmosphere were very romantic with wedding flowers in white and soft pink shades, silver chandeliers, candles, table numbers and seating cards in white with a small pale pink ribbon, a shabby chic birdcage as a gift box. It was the time for heartfelt speeches which made more than one person shed a tear, for a video recounting the story of the wedding couple, and for a wonderful surprise when Jonas took his guitar and dedicated a song to his beautiful wife.
To end this romantic destination wedding in Rome, we had the cutting of the cake in the Castle’s parlour where Jessica and Jonas then had their first dance. They surprised everyone dancing to a very well choreographed tune from Dirty Dancing. What an amazing couple!
A beautiful day with some truly unique and definitely genuine, happy people I’ll never forget!
