The top wedding reception venues to get married in Rome

There are so many stunning wedding reception venues in Rome and this is one of the reasons why couples choose to have their destination wedding here. But finding the perfect wedding reception venue can be a daunting experience as you’ll be overwhelmed by the different options Rome has to offer.

Planning weddings since 2005 gave me the chance to visit a large number of wedding reception venues in Rome and work with many different ones, getting to know their pros and cons.

To me, the best wedding reception venues must be beautiful and unique (with also a great plan B indoor if you are planning an outdoor reception), offer great, authentic Italian food and have a professional, nice and easy-to-work-with staff.

So here’s the list of my top 5 wedding reception venues in Rome for an unforgettable destination wedding in the Eternal City.

1. Villa Miani

This classic 19thcentury Villa offers large, bright and airy marble-floored rooms and endless, perfectly maintained gardens. The view over Rome is amazing and for me it’s definitely the “wow” factor which made me fall in love with this wedding reception venue together with its unique grandeur. The layout is very versatile and offers the chance to plan medium to large size destination weddings, with plenty of options for celebrating both outdoor and indoor. The authentic Italian food is a proper culinary experience you and your wedding guests will hardly forget.

2. Villa Aurelia

This elegant 17thcentury Villa boasts richly decorated rooms that will leave you and your wedding guests speechless. The gardens are divided into different areas, offering a natural separation for the different parts of the wedding: the symbolic ceremony if you are planning one; and then the welcome cocktail followed by a proper sit-down meal, to end with the open bar and dancing. Villa Aurelia is the perfect wedding reception venue for medium and large destination weddings with maximum 120 people if you plan an indoor dinner with all the guests seated in the same room. I love the lemon trees area which is mainly used for the wedding dinner, as it gives the Villa a truly authentic Italian feeling. But most of all, I love the warm and romantic feeling this Villa inspires me every time I visit.

3. Casina Valadier

Situated in Villa Borghese, the largest park in Rome, this venue was built in the 19thcentury and quickly became a gathering venue for artists and politicians. Casina is perfect for small and medium size destination weddings, to be planned in the garden, terrace overlooking Rome and ballroom on the top floor. The cosy atmosphere, the history you feel when stepping inside this wedding reception venue and its unique, central location surrounded by trees and views of Rome all make it one of my favourite wedding venues.

4. Tor Crescenza Castle

If you are planning a fairy-tale wedding, then you must definitely pick this castle as your wedding reception venue! This is one of my favourite ones in Rome and also the closest to the city centre, just a 20-minute drive away. You’ll be transported back in time the minute you cross the threshold of this unique wedding reception venue, which was completed in the 16thcentury. With its lovely garden and large rooms, it’s the perfect reception venue for large destination weddings. I so truly love its unique reception room with glass ceilings and an ancient bricked well in the middle. The plus: you can have fireworks here if you want, being outside the city centre.

5. Hotel Splendide Royal

The priority for most wedding couples is having amazing views over Rome, that’s why rooftop restaurants are perfect as a wedding reception venue. There are many hotel rooftops in Rome, but only a few I like to work with as they have the perfect combination of great venue, great food, great staff. Hotel Splendide Royal is definitely one of them. I discovered this beautiful rooftop hotel back in 2012 while planning the wedding of TV presenter Nick Knowles and Jessica Rose and have loved it ever since for its elegance and amazing views  over the city and Villa Borghese park, as well as for the possibility to also accommodate small wedding parties in a private room.

Whether you are planning a country-style wedding, or a more formal, elegant wedding reception or even a sumptuous fairy-tale wedding, be reassured Rome has so many wedding reception venues and you’ll find the perfect one for an unforgettable destination wedding. Hope this article helped you a bit!
